Carrot Apple Smoothie

 

Here is a simple smoothie with a pleasant sweet and tart flavor and plenty of nutrients.  Blend one carrot, one apple, and water sufficient to blend, and garnish with apple slices if desired.  For a creamier texture, walnuts or cashews can be added to the blender.  Ginger may be added for flavor.  This can be made into a green smoothie by adding a handful of mild-flavored greens.
This recipe can be used as a substitute for applesauce.
